Tax return preparers may now renew their PTIN for 2021 by going to the PTIN page on the IRS website.
The IRS is now charging a fee of $35.95 to renew or obtain a PTIN beginning for calendar year 2021.
The IRS is reminding tax return preparers that they must renew their PTIN for 2021 as all current PTINs expire on December 31, 2020.
Anyone who prepares a federal tax return for compensation must have a valid PTIN. Failure to have a valid PTIN may result in penalties.
